Adolescent Health
Nari Mukti Mahila Samity has been working on adolescent health awareness programme focusing on nutrition, mental health, sexual and reproductive health, abuse prevention, and injury/violence prevention, counseling, peer education, and strengthening adolescent friendly health.
Key Goals & Focus Areas:
- Reduce malnutrition, iron deficiency anaemia,
- Enhance knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours and reduce teenage pregnancies.
- Address mental health concerns and support mental well-being.
- Promote positive attitudes to prevent injuries and gender-based violence.
- Promote healthy behaviours to prevent NCDs like diabetes and heart disease.
Core Strategies:
- Providing confidential counseling services schools and community settings.
- Using social and behavioral change communication strategies, including interpersonal communication and peer education.
- Training young people to act as peer educators, providing information and support within their communities.
- Reaching adolescents in their own environments through outreach, counseling, and community engagement.
Key Principles:
- Empowering adolescents to make informed health decisions and lead health initiatives.
- Ensuring that all adolescents, including marginalized and underserved groups, have access to health services.
